Motatapu

The Motatapu River and its valley are about 1km past the main Hospital Flat parking area. Climbing here depends on keeping good relationships with landowners and following these simple rules of conduct:

• Always use the toilets located at Main Cliff, Riverside and Roadside Attraction.
• No camping and no fires are allowed in this area, sorry.
• Protect the river from the invasive algae Didymo. Do not use shoes, socks, togs or anything else that has been in the Hāwea or Clutha rivers and not been washed and thoroughly dried afterwards.
