There are two main ridges both of which can be seen from Wanaka, the Eastern Spur and the North Ridge. The Eastern Spur is accessed through Cattle Flat Station and is an interesting climb through bluffs and along an exposed ridge. The other route is through Matukituki Station and goes up the true right of Phoebe Creek and under a line of bluffs on a sheep trail then up the ridge. ‡ During winter Black Peak is the site of some steep multi-pitch ice climbing.
