Pakihaukea Pass is incorrectly labeled on the topo map. It is actually the first pass south of Mahere. The pass was originally used as an access from the Tutoko Valley to the Lake Turner region for the purpose of climbing Patuki. Over the years this route has become more of a descent route out of the Central Darran region.

P1 From the pass descend due west till the 1100m contour line marks a flat shelf. Follow this shelf northward through forested regions to the right-hand waterfall. Descend the true left of the waterfall avoiding bluffs in the central area of the wall. Pakihaukea Pass offers a direct but somewhat steep descent into the Tutoko valley. 12 hours to the road from Lake Turner.
