Lennox Pass

Type
Altitude
2240m

From the Rees Valley, ascend directly from the Rees Valley or via Kea Basin track. If ascending from Kea Basin track, leave the track at E40 491 107 and sidle through bush and scrub to cross Lennox Creek at 800m E40 491 097. This is the only place to cross Lennox Creek. The route up from Earnslaw Burn to Lennox Pass and down to the Kea Basin track is described in more detail in Moir’s Guide. One can descend more directly to the Rees Valley but care is needed to avoid bluffs.

c/- Tony O'Keefe: "You give the elevation of the Lennox Creek crossing as 1,697m. This is incorrect. The elevation of that crossing is 800m. Check Moir's Guide North 2005 p58 and topographic maps for verification. The NSMS260 map reference you give for the location of the crossing is correct."
