Wright Col

Beyond Kea Basin the route to Esquilant Bivvy and Mt Earnslaw climbs through scrub and tussock to gain the ridge to the north. Continue up this ridge to the snowline, sidle left across moderate snowfields above bluffs, and cross Birley Glacier to Wright Col. Esquilant Bivvy (NZAC Hut) E40 456 113 sleeps 6 and is located at the same height as Wright Col on the southwest corner of Leary Peak.
