Ascend the snow basin below the east ridge, then traverse onto shattered
rock. Descent via the west ridge is on good but steep rock. The overall GT is
about grade 4.

I repeated the climb with James Thornton last weekend. Good route, even though the rock is loose in places. We didn't start from the snow basin, but from pt 2018m instead - that's the rocky knob on the far right on the photograph above. This is easily gained from the east, directly from the Hopkins valley floor (our descent route), or from Paradise Creek via the saddle north of pt 1734m (our ascent route). The main difficulties were near the start.
I'd say the route is a grade 3, not grade 4. This is consistent with the rating originally reported here
