Twilight Col is at the foot of the north-west ridge of Mt Earle, but it is also possible to cross at Pt 2094m.
From Butcher Glacier: The Butcher Glacier slopes are straightforward, but crossing in this direction is not recommended as the eastern slopes are steep.
From the Forbes River: From the South Forbes, follow up scree then moderate snow slopes and cross the col to the Butcher Glacier. Watch for loose stones.
Alternatively, climb into the snow and scree basin directly east of Mt Coates. From about 1900m, scramble up a rock rib and then follow a gully that leads diagonally up to Pt 2094m. On the west side, descend easy snow slopes or rock ribs slightly south of Pt 2094m onto the Butcher Glacier.
The ridge between Pt 2094m and Twilight Col can also be traversed.
