Lendenfeld Saddle was first reached by Dr Robert von Lendenfeld and Anna von Lendenfeld in 1884. Tom Fyfe and Malcolm Ross made the first crossing in 1897, from the Tasman to the Whymper.

Approach
From the Haupapa Tasman Glacier: Easy snow slopes on the Tasman Glacier side.
From the Whymper Glacier: The saddle has been crossed, but the Whymper side is a very long route, complicated by crevasses and icefalls. A better route would be to use Tasman and Whymper Saddles.
