Mikonui Valley to Top Tuke Hut via Dickie Spur
The track up the Mikonui to Top Tuke Hut, beginning at Mikonui Flat Hut, is maintained by DOC.
From Dickie Spur Hut, the route sidles Dickie Ridge on a tussock bench under Pt 1326 metres and
descends the gully under Pt 1296 metres to about the 860-metre contour before markers lead up valley
through scrub and descend to the Tuke Valley at about J34 367905 / BV18 267 289, above the gorge.
From here the riverbed offers fair travel most of the way to Top Tuke Hut. There is a small gorge with
a track around it on the true left, about 20 minutes down from Top Tuke Hut. Tuke is the Māori name
for the rock wren.
Times : Mikonui Flats to Dickie Spur Hut, 6–7 hrs ; Dickie Spur Hut to Top Tuke Hut, 4 hrs
