Beginning 0.5 km downstream from the Hodgkinson Creek climb the tussock
slopes to reach 2036m. Follow the ridge to the east and south to reach the
summit, the highest point in the Barrier Range. Another approach is to begin at 786m, follow easy slopes up, crossing the deep slit where possible (look for animal trail), to reach the large tarn south west of the summit. Continue up the basin behind the tarn, followed by an easy scramble to the summit.
