From behind the Richardson rock bivvy climb diagonally up the gentle western slope to Tragedy Col. The descent to the Dobson valley is difficult, prone to rockfall and best crossed early in the day before snow conditions deteriorate on the Dobson face. When descending to the Dobson make sure you are far enough to the south of Prudence Peak and locate the easiest snow slope aiming for the small gravel outlier on the Dobson side (BY15 557 432). From here, move diagonally south along a sloping bench, cut by a number of small streams and gullies, keeping above the bluffs. Descend into the steep grassy gully at BY15 561 422, the top of which can be marked by the occasional cairn. This can involve vertical scrub or an exposed metre-wide ledge. Follow the gully down into the stream draining into the Dobson. (The first crossing was from the Dobson.)
