Approach
From McCoy Hut, head along the true right of McCoy Stream. After about 4 km cross to the true left if possible to avoid a tedious and steep high sidle above bluffs, then continue up to the rocky upper reaches.

Can stay on TR now to the upper forks and onto glacier, keeping your boots dry. Cairned a pleasant, level and very straightforward route (following an excellent game trail) through the “tedious and high sidle through bluffs”. Dry feet to McCoy Col and beyond.
