Catle Stream was probably first explored for mountaineering by Austen Deans, Neville Barker and party in June 1939 when they climbed some of the smaller peaks in the range.

Cattle Stream is rarely visited but provides straightforward access to Mt Neave and several other named and unnamed peaks on the Divide, as well as the western aspects of the Ragged Range.
