Regular Route

A regular crossing route from the Tasman to the Murchison Valley. From the Tasman Valley, use the obvious saddle nearest Mt Aylmer and descend onto the Murchison Glacier down the “Murchison Headwall”. Beware of avalanche danger here in winter. In reverse: From Murchison Hut descend to the glacier or traverse snow slopes and travel around northern edge of central icefall and up towards the saddle. The final 150m is relatively steep. If descending to the east note that the central icefall is not immediately evident from the Murchison Névé.
