The Cascade Glacier may be best reached from Onslow Hut by crossing the stream draining the Onslow Glacier and then climbing north towards Pt 2195m. Before that point is reached, drop down a steep gut onto the glacier.
The Murchison lake makes direct access to Cascade Stream difficult, but once in the stream it is straightforward to access the lower glacier, bypassing bluffs from 1500m to 1800m on the true right.
Ascend the Cascade Glacier up easy slopes to the pass. After crossing the broad expanse of the pass, descend either snow or, in late summer, rock, and scree to the Beetham valley.
