Marcel Col

From the névé between Syme Ridge and Mt Dixon climb directly to the Col. The last 200m are steep. An easier route is via the East Face of Lendenfeld Peak.

From Pioneer Hut a route around Haast Corner is usually viable early in the season but may require careful route finding through crevasses. If this option is cut off an alternative can be found under Lendenfeld Peak – continue from under Haast further up the Heemskirk Glacier. Beware of cornices on the col - scene of a few falls! The route is not difficult but can require some crevasse navigation.
