From the Aida Glacier, climb the spur leading towards Mt Sydney King then pick a line to the summit. A great ski tour in spring.

From the upper Joie de Vivre Glacier, climb the rock buttress directly to the summit.
The feasibility of direct access from the Classen to the Joie de Vivre is unknown. It may be easier to either start further down valley, using slopes below the north ridge of Mt Sydney King, or drop onto the upper Joie de Vivre Glacier from near the summit of Phyllis.
A NZMGA guides course added a number of routes on this buttress in March 1991.
