I beg to differ. We approach
I beg to differ. We approach new routes as a collaborative venture. Just think of us as an anarcho-syndicalist collective - "From each according to his worth, to each according to his need" yadda, yadda. But, in answer to your question, I led the line first, but Andy tells me he was the first to climb it "properly" (apparently I went too far around the arete to the big holds...) Make of all that what you will.
Thats only me being
Thats only me being hypercompetative. The story is I climbed to the top of the route and put the anchors in, Dave cleaned the line. We both topped it and broke off a couple of brittle holds, and we both put in a few bolts. Then Dave led (redpointed) it and I did so after him. And that was a day at the crag.We both played a part in creating the route, so both names were attached.
