Bowen River

Type

Bowen Falls is a spectacular sight from the Milford Hotel

Approach

A marked track to the top of Bowen Falls starts halfway along the road between the Milford Pub and the tourist wharf. The track zigzags up the hill meeting up with the water pipes which are followed to the Bowen River. From here it is a five minute scramble to the top of the falls.
To access the upper Bowen Valley follow the true left-hand side of the river to the first dry creek bed 200m upstream. Follow this for 200m before climbing the bank and entering the bush on the left. Stay above the river for two kilometres along terraces through dense but not difficult bush until the river flattens. After several kilometers the river dries up and provides easy going to the head of the valley.
