The Mannering Glacier comprises two arms – the lower Mannering Glacier (draining Starvation Saddle) and the upper Mannering Glacier (draining Haeckel, Mt Annan, Mt Kain, and Mt Abel). To access the upper Mannering Glacier, climb the rock step on the true left of the icefall.
Cross the névé below Mt Abel to gain the crest of the rib, which leads directly to the summit of Mt Annan. The rib involves a mix of wide snow slopes and rock bands.
