Pavilion Pk

4wd track the whole way. This is a brutal climb on a bike with lots of pushing. Leave the Avon Burn Track car park in the Ahuriri Valley and head to the Tin Hut on the Te Araroa Trail. A few hundred metres before the hut, take the signposted track up the spur. Continue to the summit marvelling at the bulldozer driver who dared to form the track. With some descents, the spectacular ridgeline track continues east passing Dromedary Hill before plunging off down to Dalrachney Station's easement and the highway 3.5km from the Ahuriri Valley turnoff. It is another 11.5km back to the car park.
