crossed by Dan Strachan on survey 1881. Also notable crossing by Mildred Huggins, and Joan Singleton from Clarke Glacier over Strachan Pass and then up the Main Divide to cross into Vane Stream, exiting the Wanganui River on the West Coast in late Dec 1934.

Approach
From the Ramsay Glacier follow moraine, which leads on to the Clarke Glacier. Crevasses complicate
the route south of and directly under the pass, which is often cut off. An alternative follows a line to
the north-east and up moderately steep snow slopes to the pass, but it is subject to rock fall. From
Strachan Pass, bypass a slabby band of rock at 1620 metres on its south side and descend to the Lord
Valley
