From Cupola Basin Hut, ascend to a saddle on the Travers Range (just below Pt 1989) where the ridge begins. A series of sharp teeth can be turned on the west by descending a gut to a ledge, which angles back to a notch in the ridge. The summit pyramid is steep climbing on good rock. Boulders in a chimney can be turned by a tight crawl underneath.

Jan 2012 ascent in snow free conditions - rock is a little loose gaining the ridge near Pt 1989 and variable along the ridge, although really is nice on the summit pyramid; the last of the sharp teeth can be passed with an 11m abseil as an alternative to descending to the angling ledge on the west; at the start of the summit pyramid a prominent shallow chimney just west of the ridge leads to progressively easier ground above.
