Access
A cairned track exists, following mainly the true left of The Growler, climbing a scree fan to the top of a bluff before dropping back down to the river at about the 900-metre contour. Possible campsites exist here. At about 1000 metres the track crosses to the true right and peters out in the scrubby, rocky upper Growler basin. This can be a tricky track to spot when heading downstream.
