The Pass between Anzac Peaks and the East Ridge of Mt Cook
This col is an access route to Plateau Hut, but it is more often used as a descent because of soft snow later in the day. The following is a descent description. From the Grand Plateau cross Cinerama Col and drop 150m down the Caroline Glacier, skirting left under the Anzac Peaks to the ridge line above the Boys Glacier (Boys Col). Descend the Boys (beware of wet snow avalanches here and on the traverse under the Anzacs), tending left to eventually meet low angle scree slopes. Follow the scree slopes down and traverse rightward along an obvious rocky shelf (a small waterfall is now on your right), marked with the odd cairn. A vague track leads to the large scree slopes below that drain almost all the way to the Ball/Tasman glacier junction. A large stream gut to the right provides access to the Tasman Glacier (beware of rockfall, especially during rain).
