Tom Fyfe seems to have a lot of dodgy gullies named after him, many of which he never used himself. Fyfe’s Gut is the narrow couloir directly below Green Saddle.
From the upper Sheila Glacier, climb the rib to the climber’s left of Fyfe’s Gut. This route was used to gain the north ridge of Aoraki on its first acent. It is also possible to climb Fyfe’s Gut but this is extremely prone to rockfall.
See also the South Ridge route on Dampier Rakiroa.
