Ngā Poutiriao ō Mauao, the Mauao Joint Administration Board, has decided not to allow climbing on Mauao (Mt Maunganui). The bolts were removed in 2021.

The Cables Wall is the first rock face as you climb the access track. A welltravelled area that is one of the most sheltered from the wind.
